Sarah Palin is probably the only unelected person in the world that can make news by not saying a thing. I don't know if you remember the old ad about an investment company where every time they begin to speak, people stopped and cupped their hands behind their ears and listen intently. I always thought the ad was funny, and didn't think that any company could have that much power. Sarah Palin has that kind of power. When she speaks, everyone listens, even those that hate her, have to know, and parse whatever she says.
This is what Barack Obama aspires to. It must drive him crazy that the woman that lost the Vice Presidency, has more power in her voice, to influence the news of the day, than he has with the full weight of the Presidency behind him. It must drive his advisors nuts that they have to respond when she makes a statement.
So they try and try to say that she is stupid, and uneducated and therefore not qualified to be President. Hmmm, if she is not qualified, why do so many people care about what she says and does? If she is not qualified, why is Barack Obama? What makes Mike Huckabee qualified? Or Newt Gingrich? Does having knowledge on any specific subject give you the ability to be a leader?
How many really smart people are real leaders? Would you want an Einstien to be President. Would you want Edison to be President. Or how about the guy that invented the microwave oven? Do you remember when you were in high school or college and the smartest kids in the class were elected to be the class president? Probably didn't happen, did it? There was a reason for that. The ability to lead requires something more than brains.
The trouble with journalists trying to tell us that whoever we pick for President, is smart or not, is their agenda. Anybody that decides they know what is best for everyone else, are really deciding that they are smarter than you, and therefore they have the right to tell you what to do, and what to think. They really don't want you to make your own decision, they want you to listen to them. I prefer to make my own decision.
Think about what you want in a president. I want a leader, someone who knows enough to know that they don't know everything, someone who is willing to listen to the opinions of others, but someone who makes a decision and takes responsibility for that decision.
I don't want a genius, but I do want someone that is quick on their feet, and doesn't stand on the sidelines until other people come to some kind of agreement, then just go along with their decisions. I want someone who, at the very least, knows how to live within their means, and not on the backs of everyone else. I want someone who understands that no matter what you think is right, other people may have a different opinion, and that their opinions matter too. I want someone who believes that people, on the local level, know more about what they need than people a thousand miles away. I want someone who believes in a higher power, and understands that God is the only being that is in control the whole time. I want someone who doesn't think that they have the right to control everything I do. I want someone who understands that one size does not fit all, and that people are individuals. But that is what I want, you have to decide what you want. But I hope you will look at every source you can before you decide, and not let the media tell you they know what is best for you.
I have included a link below to some of the things that are being said about and by Sarah Palin. But let me remind you of one thing. The same people that tell you she is stupid are the same people, who are saying that you are too stupid to make your own decisions and that they are the ones you have to listen to.
